Hello! Today, I'll be presenting the LEGO 2024 Christmas set: Santa's Post Office. I've been purchasing the Christmas sets for a few years now, so let's see how this year's version stacks up!
Informations
Bags & Instructions
A pleasant surprise this year is the introduction of paper bags—I think all brands should follow this example! Unfortunately, the instructions were damaged as they weren't protected, and the sticker sheet was also affected.
Small Builds
We start with three small scenes: an elf fishing for letters (and a rather poorly-colored fish), a signpost with a mailbox referencing older Christmas sets, and the traditional Christmas tree. Next is a letter-sorting machine and a mail carrier with a manual mechanism that sorts letters to the right or left.
Ground Floor Start
The base structure feels fragile at first, as it’s an open, relatively wide building. It's worth noting the minimal use of tiles, giving the floor an unfinished look for an "Adult" set. On the left side (viewed from the back), there’s a cozy lounge with a bookshelf, coffee table, armchair, and fireplace.
Ground Floor Completion
On the right side, there's an entrance packed with letters and parcels, as well as a coffee machine. The central section is dedicated to the mail-sorting center.
First Floor
The build continues with the first floor, where we add the support for the hot air balloon and install the slides for sorting letters.
Second Floor
The second floor features Santa’s writing desk and a second slide connecting to the central one. Additional details include a book and some letters.
Finishing Touches & Roofs
We complete the build with three snowy roofs and decorative elements on the façade and ground.
Hot Air Balloon
The final piece is the charming hot air balloon, along with two elf minifigures and a mechanism for emptying letters. The traditional light-up brick is included, activated by pressing the top.
Final Result & Conclusion
Overall, the set looks nice with some interesting building techniques, especially for the roofs. However, I have reservations about the +18 rating, as I expected
more complexity for an adult-branded set. While I enjoy the small scenes, I would prefer them integrated into the main structure—especially the sorting machine, which needs precise positioning to work properly (I had to reshoot the video several times to get the letters to fall into the correct trays).
I also wish LEGO would include lighting kits in their sets—it really adds something special.
