Hi everyone,
Today, I am going to present the set from the brand Mould King: Coffee House. This is a modular set composed of three buildings, which also includes an integrated light kit.
Informations
Instructions
I did not receive this set with its original box, so I will only present the instructions. The manual itself is fairly clear overall, although some building steps can be a bit confusing at times. The instructions for the light kit are in Chinese and not included in the main manual, so it requires some anticipation and problem-solving to figure out the correct assembly order.
Specials parts
I am not an expert in light kits (aside from those from Funwhole), but I can tell you that this set only comes with a battery-powered system. As for special and printed pieces, I hope you like guitars or saxophones, as there are also newspapers and various pieces for the coffee shop, as well for a computer.
Coffee House
To begin with, the coffee house is quite well-designed with small structures; the façade is very pleasant to look at, and the way it is built is technically quite interesting. As for the attic, I find it a bit empty. The stone staircase, on the other hand, is stunning, with beautiful details and textures.
Music Store
The music instrument shop is, like the coffee house, very well detailed, with a drum kit, a piano to build, as well as guitars and a saxophone to hang. It's also worth noting the presence of a small sliding door, which is really fun to make.
Small apartment
The small apartment is, as the name suggests, very tiny. The small structures are nice, but it's hard to see how one could live in such a small space, especially since you have to go outside to get to the bedroom. Strange. The exterior is lovely, and I really love the details on the stone path.
Sewing workshop
The sewing workshop is located above the coffee house. It's quite well done, with a set of fabrics and a sewing machine
Small apartment (bedroom)
Not much to say about this part, just a bed, a closet, and a coat rack.
Other bedroom
Much better detailed than the small apartment, this room located above the music store features a large bed, a desk with a computer, a bookshelf, and a large lamp.
Roofs
The three roofs are all different. The first one is very simple and could perhaps have used a few more elements. The second one uses plates with pinholes to create a really well-done tile effect. The third one, on the other hand, uses slopes for a fairly decent result, although I find the edges not great.
Final Result
The building experience is mixed. On one hand, there are some very interesting parts, like the mini constructions, the staircase, the windows, etc. On the other hand, there are some drawbacks, like the lighting kit that doesn’t work (unlucky for me), the yellow color of the building that I really don’t like, and the quality of the bricks is decent but just below the standards of brands like Lego or Gobrick.
Pros
- Price (0.03€/pièce)
- Stairs
- Some building techniques
Cons
- No Minifigures
- Lights not working
- Some parts are a bit empty
